I worked 9-5 yesterday, which is unusual for me. It was a particularly boring day at work. I brought my guitar, intending to go to the open mic at 8pm. Normally that shift I am off at 7:30. Anyhow, when I got off at 4:30, I went home, and with all the good intentions of returning downtown for the open mic night, fell asleep at 7pm and woke up at... 2am. ha ha ha.
I dreamed that our building had a parking lot outside my window (it doesn't, we have a GO train station instead) and that it was filled with snow (it's summer). ???
I was SOOOO tired from our boring day. What a waste of an afternoon, because I still got the same 8 hours of sleep, just 4 hours earlier than normally. It's all good, I could probably use the practice time this week for the next open mic.
However it wasn't all bad, being up at all hours of the morning: at 2am on CFRB, they were doing repeat programming, discussing how Howard Moscoe wants... pizzazz on the subways and buses. HeLLO! Cracked out TTC commissioner alert!! Pizzazz would mean comedians and bingo on buses and streetcars and drivers with funny hats. I think it's time for this dude to retire. I am having flashbacks of another old cracked out dude in charge: Mayor Mel. Apparently he was on some medication that as it turned out, was making him stupid. Stupid stupid stupid. So I made another Metroblogging entry, I haven't been making entries in ages, all freaked out that it's not Toronto enough (I live in mississauga.)
I used to be a terrible sleeper, that's why I'm not impressed at being up so early, I will have to pay the piper later on and be tired at 3pm. But, as I have gotten older I am becoming a better sleeper.
Monday, I got my eyes checked out, and they dilated the pupils so they could see better, as a result, I couldn't, and I had arranged ahead of time for my dad to give me a ride from the optometrist. Wow, everything was just 38949029384 times brighter than normal outside in the sun. So my solution to not being able to see a damn thing was to sleep it off on my parents' couch. (keep in mind my way of having a fun afternoon is sewing, reading... other things that require good vision) Now in grade 11 I would have given just about anything to be able to just nap like that. Oh well.
Yesterday, same thing, I was just SOO irritated at the whole day, it was the kind of boringness that has you almost rocking back and forth, like an unfortunate kid in an orphanage. (they are talking a lot at work about excessive internet usage, so I just kind of twiddled my thumbs instead of surfing, while waiting for the delays to pass) ANND there was traffic that I'm not used to, and the prospect of waiting 3 hours to go do my open mic kind of made me a little silly. So I guess my new response to stress is to sleep. Ahhh! just like a baby.
