I've been a miserable shithead most of the week at work, but tonight I chitchatted with my friend at work, ie a friend I actually used to participate in activities outside of work with (we were in a band for awhile) and it lifted my spirits immensely. I mean your co-workers kind of have to talk to you, but it was good to catch up with a person who was kind of glad to see me.

Also he works in master control, so imagine: most of the worker bees ahve gone home, and you kind of have all the peace and quiet of maybe 5-6 people in the entire building. Then when I left, it felt peace and quiet as well, I remembered all the peace and quiet I experienced while worknig in master control myself. It feels kind of like this: 1) wait until the middle of the night 2) stare outside at a streetlight 3) experience the quiet for 8 hours.

I don't think I could take that peace and quite for 8 hours...I'd need an iPod or something to keep me entertained...

It's okay if there's stuff going on, ie people to work with, stuff to do. But I dunno, when I worked alone, it was... know what? It was long enough ago that I forget! I do remember scouring the work area for any newspapers or anything to read. I kind of had to keep an ear/eye out for anything to go wrong, but that was automatic after awhile. I did develop the skill to be able to pay attention to what program we were airing, whether or not it was interesting to me. Kind of like how when I'm in a library, I can pretty much read anything.

But it was nice to drive on roads that were normally busy, in the dead of night.

Yeah, driving home late (or early AM) is great...used to have late nights at a friends playing video games and watching movies, and would drive home at dawn with no traffic and it was great!
