Apr. 30th, 2005 10:38 pmI went to see Kung Fu Hustle. It was good. It was filled with cool choreography and hottie men, and it was pretty funny. It had English subtitles. The majority of it was Cantonese dialogue, though a goodly portion was Mandarin.
However I went to the wrong cinema again. I do this. There are two cinemas, one in the Square One mall, and one just around the corner past the Chapters. Typically, I read the listings, go to the Square One cinema, the movie is totally not even there, so I go to the movie theatre around the corner, I have missed one or two previews, and bingo! I go see the movie I wanted.
The mystery is solved now though.
They have fanciful names in the Now magazine, ie it is a Famous Players, says so on the sign, but in the movie listings, it says "Coliseum Mississauga (FP)" WTF??? Also it says Square One. It is NOT in Square One, the Cineplex Odeon is in Square One. ARRGGHHH! So it is not my feminine bad sense of direction, or faulty memory. I could have never known that it was ever playing at Square One, because there ARE NO LISTINGS in the Now Magazine for the Cineplex that is actually in Square One. Fuckers.
So I have put the numbers and street addresses of the theatres, plus the funky names that Now Magazine gives them so I can decode their damn movie listings, into my cell phone.
I realize that perhaps the Mississauga listings are probably the responsibility of the theatres themselves, maybe Now & Eye skip out on some of the regional theatres, but the three C's (Cumberland, Carleton, Canada Square) are pretty much the first listings... they are good theatres but I am going to hit my speed dial instead next time. hmph.
