My parents used to have travellers pitch their caravans at the end of their road where there was a nice big grassy area for the horses. Eventually the council had to build a huge mound of dirt around it to stop them from going on the land.
In the UK there are designated places for these people to go - they are provided for, but still choose not to do it. That's the irksome part is the taxpayer is paying for non-taxpayers to use something that they don't even care or bother to use...and then the travellers wonder why they get given a hard time!
