I am training someone at work. It is okay, but there is a big difference between quietly doing my work, and trying to take a fresh look at what is my daily routine and explain it to someone else. This person is experienced with control rooms, actually has a lot of community TV experience in general and some CG experience, but he has to get used to our Chyron which is neither Windows nor Mac, and also he has to become acquainted with the peculiarities of how our Chyrons interact with the XP network computers.

We had one person leave for another job across the city. So one of the chyron folk moved into his job. So until one of those freelancers moves into the job she vacated, we are kind of short people, and for covering vacations, will be short 1 person until a new freelancer is trained. To top it off, the other freelancer is probably taking a non-graphics job at our station, so in reality, we need ANOTHER freelancer to be training. Another graphics person (not chyron, she does Photoshop stuff) is going on maternity leave probably in early December. There is a person training in her room, so we should be okay if this trainee works out, she has some other experience in the building doing Dayang graphics (Chinese chars.) and she fits in well so it would be pretty cool to have her around. There was another person who was training that I figured her heart wasn't in it... that's frustrating because I have 8 vacation days to burn before the end of the year or they go bye bye. I don't care, I had a fabulous time in Montreal, and don't really want to GO anywhere, but I could use the week off to gather my thoughts and probably organize some of my belongings at my parents' house.

My dad and I had a set-to on Sunday... I will actually be glad when the damn house is sold and they are all settled in to Nfld, I cannot take the in-the-meantime dolling up of our house for showing off to potential sellers. >:( People will just paint over in colours they like anyhow, just get rid of the clutter so people can see the shape of the rooms and imagine their own stuff there. The bathrooms and kitchen are pretty updated, with new floors, so my dad shouldn't worry too much. Nothing worse than an uncleanable kitchen or bathroom floor! However we have a yellow toilet that doesn't match, in one bathroom, so that's probably got to go. Ah, the 70s.
