Jan. 8th, 2005 03:36 pmI saw an interesting show on PBS called "Do you speak American?" I learned that there are several Southern accents that I still cannot distinguish between, they still speak French in Lousiana, and that our SW Ontario accent contains little similarities to Valley Girl english, perhaps picked up while watching Square Pegs. I am a linguistics enthusiast, wished there was a Canadian version of that show, and I want to buy the DVD of it.
The most informative stuff was about Texas. It has weird town names, people seem to be characters, and they run their words together. So it is the Newfoundland of the US, I guess. I wanna go there now.
